Welcome to the website of the ESPD. Photodermatology is a major subspecialty of Dermatology and is of enormous relevance to all people on earth. The sun after all is the source of life on earth; the understanding of its effects on mankind is therefore very fundamental. Sunlight can have very serious adverse effects as well as beneficial effects and it behoves us to appreciate and utilise the good and minimise the bad. It is therefore really important for all dermatologists to have a thorough understanding of the area. Though many dermatologists have a good understanding of the basics of the subspecialty not all have in depth experience. The ESPD aims to improve knowledge in the area by running symposia highlighting new research and innovations and also runs a photodermatology course covering all aspects of photodermatology for those in training and also those wishing to update their knowledge.
